An .eml keeps the message exactly as it travelled, which is excellent for mail programs and useless for anyone who just wants to read it. Saved as HTML it becomes an ordinary web page: the formatting stays, inline images stay where the sender put them, and the file opens with a double click on any machine for the next twenty years.

You are not locked into HTML
The file is parsed once and stays open, so the format is picked at the end rather than the beginning: the same .eml can leave here as CSV, XLSX, ZIP, MBOX, PDF, TXT or JSON. Before that you can search it by subject or address, filter by year, sender and attachment type, mark the duplicates and look through the archive overview.
Questions
- Do inline images survive?
- Yes. Images that travelled inside the message are embedded in the page itself, so it stays readable with no folder of loose files beside it.
- Can I convert a whole folder into one page?
- Yes. Select any number of .eml files and they are written as a single page, one message after another.
- Is anything stripped out?
- Scripts and remote tracking pixels are removed. Text, formatting, tables and images are kept.
