About this conversion
An .eml is a message with its whole postal history attached — routing headers, encodings, base64 blocks — and most of that is noise to anyone who just wants the words. As plain text it becomes what people expected in the first place: who wrote, when, about what, and the message itself, in a file that opens in Notepad and stays readable when every mail program of this decade is gone.

You are not locked into TXT
The file is parsed once and stays open, so the format is picked at the end rather than the beginning: the same .eml can leave here as CSV, XLSX, ZIP, MBOX, PDF, HTML or JSON. Before that you can search it by subject or address, filter by year, sender and attachment type, mark the duplicates and look through the archive overview.
Questions
- What happens to a formatted message?
- Formatting is flattened to text. Links stay as their addresses, and tables are written out row by row rather than dropped.
- Are the attachments in there?
- They are listed by name and size under the message. To save the files themselves, use the zip export.
- Can I convert a whole folder of .eml files?
- Yes. Select any number of them and they are written one after another into a single text file.
